Al Powell is a LAPD cop that assists John McClane in the film Die Hard. He also briefly appears in Die Hard 2: Die Harder. He is played by Reginald VelJohnson.
Die Hard[]
On his way home from work Al Powell was sent to investigate an emergency call from John McClane at the hijacked Nakatomi Plaza. At the plaza Powell was met by on of the terrorist who was posing as a security guard and told Powell that it was a false alarm. To get his attention McClane threw Marco's body from the 34th floor and landed on his patrol car. Realizing that their cover had been blown Hans Gruber's men opened fire on Powell's fleeing car. Powell called for backup and threw the film Powell talked to McClane threw a radio and McClane used the names Roy of cowboy. The became very close and Powell revealed that he ahot a child who was holding a toy gun and that after that he was assigned a desk job for eleven years. At the end of the movie the two meet. However, Karl emerges with a machine gun. As Karl is about to kill McClane, Powell gains the courage to draw his gun and shoots Karl.
Die Hard 2: Die Harder[]
After killing a gunman at the Dulles International Airport, McClane faxes his fingerprints to Poewll for indentification. Powell then calls McClane and tells him that the man is Oswald Cochrane an American military adviser who was reported killed in a helicopter crash in Honduras two years ago. After getting his thanks from McClane, Powell hangs up the phone.
